Why this matters here
Older Indian survey and revenue records sit on the Everest spheroid, not WGS 84. Treating one as the other puts everything a few hundred metres out — enough to move a plot boundary onto a neighbour.

Frequently asked questions
How are points matched to areas?
By containment. Each point is tested against every area and takes the attributes of the first one it falls inside. Holes are respected, so a point in a hole is not counted as inside.
What if a point is not inside anything?
It is kept, with its own attributes unchanged and no new columns filled in. The count of how many matched is reported so you can see the shortfall at once.
Can I use it with lines or areas rather than points?
It will run, using the first vertex of each feature as its location. For anything other than points, check the result rather than trusting it.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No.
